Humanity’s population has grown dramatically in the last century, and it is hard to believe that we will exceed 8 billion people by next year. What’s even more staggering is how much we consume, let alone waste. In 2018, the EPA reported 35 million tons of food was discarded in the United States alone, and that 40% of all food produced turns to waste.
MegaWatt views these unfortunate statistics as an opportunity: Anerobic Digestion (AD), the process that the body uses to break down food. In 2018 Europe had over 17,000 AD systems in operation, and the EU continues to invest in recycling their biowaste.
However, the U.S. has only 2,300 AD systems in operation as of 2022. Megawatt intends to close the gap with Europe, through emulation and innovation, becoming leaders in the market of biowaste recycling. Where others are mostly seeking profitability, Megawatt is committed to sustainability for future generations.
Data-Powered
Learning is the most important part of any business. Megawatt uses data-driven decision making to improve our processes and avoid problems before they even occur.
Expand into a booming market.
Anerobic Digestion is not a new technology but the market for Biogas is vastly underdeveloped in many regions of the United States Megawatt plans to take full advantage of this opportunity.
